What is Metabolic Health Day?

The Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health (MTIH) launched Metabolic Health Day to raise national awareness of the foundational role that metabolic health plays in preventing, managing, and even reversing chronic diseases—especially cancer. Rooted in the work and vision of MTIH, this initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to advancing a systems-based, individualized approach to healing that targets the body’s core biological functions.


“Metabolic health” encompasses critical processes such as blood sugar regulation, inflammation control, hormone balance, mitochondrial activity, and cellular repair—all of which directly influence long-term well-being, resilience, and longevity.


Metabolic Health Day serves as a call to action—highlighting how informed lifestyle choices, integrative therapies, and research-backed care can empower individuals to take control of their health. Through advocacy, education, and innovation, MTIH is transforming the conversation around chronic disease by shining a light on the terrain-based approach that addresses root causes and promotes true healing.

Why Does Metabolic Health Matter?

Metabolic health is the foundation of overall well-being, yet an overwhelming majority of Americans are living with some form of metabolic dysfunction—often without even knowing it. In fact, only 6.8% to 12% of U.S. adults are considered metabolically healthy, meaning their blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, and inflammation markers are within optimal ranges.


This is especially important because metabolic dysfunction is directly linked to the development and progression of chronic diseases, including cancer. Research continues to highlight the profound connection between poor metabolic health and the “cancering” process, influencing factors like immune function, inflammation, mitochondrial performance, and cellular repair.

The Terrain Ten™

The Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health works to bring awareness to what we call the 10 Hallmarks of Metabolic Imbalance, which include:
